Welcome to our Scottish Thyroid Petition webpage. The petition was created out of a desperate need for change in the way thyroid disease is diagnosed and treated in the UK and also world wide. Sandra, Marian and Lorraine are three Scottish Hypothyroid patients who have battled for decades to obtain the treatment they so badly needed. Finally it seems the Scottish Parliament may be listening. We submitted a petition in December 2012 and were invited to give further evidence in person on February 5th. The video link to this in on our site.

As we are just three individuals, not connected with any thyroid organisations, the petitions committee have written to relevant organisations for their input and this will be sent to us for a response in four weeks. By mid April the committee will meet again to decide if there is further action to be taken, including perhaps the setting up of a Parliament working group to further examine this issue. In the meantime, all interested members of the public can support this initiative by emailing their personal experiences of thyroid treatment to petitions@scottish.parliament.uk
We will keep you up dated on all progress on this blog, which you can also find on facebook and twitter and we thank you for your support. Together we can make a difference.
